Summer Window Showing Intent For Blues - Logan Rankin

Billericay Town have been on the push to thoroughly improve the squad ahead of the 25/26 season campaign - to hopefully claim top spot as their own.

With no retentions yet to be confirmed, as Gary McCann is set to start talks in the coming days, the squad is already being bolstered with the season only ending a number of weeks ago.

The Departing Two

In the last few days 2 players have announced their departures from Billericay Town F.C. Ansu Janneh and Ashley Nzala.

Early into the season, both players seemed to be key to McCann's plan for being title contenders, with the central midfielder and winger scoring on their debuts against Whitehawk. Ansu Janneh joined The Blues after a relatively successful time with Hastings United, and come the first game of the season, it seemed the 26 year-old got off to the perfect start with a truly audacious bicycle kick effort which flew past The Hawk's goalkeeper. Mid-way through the season, Janneh picked up a hip flexor injury which would see him side-lined for a number of weeks. It would be hard for Ansu - but when he was eligible to play according to Mark Findley - he was sent out on loan, back to Hastings United for one month to attempt to regain match fitness. It wouldn't be the ideal turn around for Ansu Janneh as he would be left out of the rest of the starting XIs until his eventual departure not too long ago.
Ashley Nzala has had an underwhelming time with Billericay since he came through the doors from Chatham Town, after bagging 14 goals last term. Nzala had a flying start for BTFC as he was key in the draw against Dover, and many more games where he was in impactable form. There was a stud in the road for Nzala, he would drop out of the squad for the remainder of the season and would mostly make off - the - bench cameos grabbing a few assists every one and a while. With these 2 players departing, we with them the best in their travels and journeys elsewhere.

The New Two

The Blues management team have started strong with the arrival of ex-Worthing forward, Liam Nash to start off a, hopefully, successful summer window. Nash joins after a short spell with Worthing, netting 6 times and playing a part in their play-off place finish. The 29 year-old played for Billericay back in 2015 and helped to guide The Blues to a 9th place finish with 71 points amounted. It's fair to say that the English frontman was vital to the 23/24 Isthmian League's winning team, Hornchurch, ticking off 27 goals to grant The Urchins promotion to the step above. Liam Nash has stated that his experience with winning the league and preforming in the league above will give high levels of knowledge into the club and grant a massive change to grasp a place in the league above come the 26/27 season. Nash has shown commitment to CM12, putting pen to paper on a 2 year deal - which keeps him at The New Lodge until the end of the next season.
We talked about one end of the pitch, and now we drop to the other side of the pitch. Improving on an already and new impenetrable backline of Aron Pollock, Tom Bender, Tommy Davis, Matt Johnson, and now Ryan Scott surely this defence will mirror one of the best defences this league has ever seen. Scott joins a title fighting ready Blue squad from Hornchurch after also being an influential player in their league dominance. Scott has plenty of experience when it comes to promotion in the Isthmian League with promotion with Aveley as well. Within Scott's 2 seasons with The Urchins, he achieved a well deserved 50+ appearances and helped them retain their League South status.

It's an understatement to say Gary McCann wants to achieve promotion after a very close call. and doing so with 2 statement signings.
